Get more of a glimpse
…I will never forget the day when I received the call
from one of the members of the coaching staff at The
University of Tennessee. They were very interested in
my skills. I have been a Tennessee fan for most of my
life. This to me was my grace land. I informed them
that they were in my final two selections. They asked
who their competition was…

was most impressed when he asked me, “How is your heart
son?” The answer to this question was the focus of the
next four years of my life. I must be honest. I had no
idea what this meant. In my mind “heart” represents
passion. It is the workhorse of the human body, pure in
spirit. How was my heart? Do I have the desire to
accomplish not only my goals but the team’s goals? What
about after college? How’s my heart when it comes to
family and occupation…
…I’m not going to tell you everything about what
happened in my college years, because some things are
better left alone. I am here to tell you that Carson
Newman was some of the best years of my life. From
starting as a freshman, going to three National
Championships, being showcased on ESPN three times,
induction into the Tennessee Hall of Fame for the most
overtimes in a National Championship, a two-time all SAC
Conference first team offensive lineman, and All
American Honorable Mention it was amazing. All of this
